TaxApp is a tax planning and organization tool, not a tax filing service.

5. Information Sharing & Tax Professional Partners

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with:

  • Tax Professionals & Firms: When you connect with a tax professional or partner firm through TaxApp for filing services, no sensitive information is shared through TaxApp. You will use their secure, independent platform to share sensitive information and file your taxes. TaxApp does not file taxes to the IRS or states—we connect you with professionals who do. Our partner tax professionals are vetted, licensed CPAs, EAs, and tax attorneys.
  • Service Providers: Third parties who help us operate our platform (hosting, payment processing)
  • Legal Requirements: To comply with legal processes or protect our rights

About Our Tax Professional Network: TaxApp is an informational platform that connects you with licensed, verified tax professionals and firms. We do not file taxes to the IRS or states. When you choose to work with a partner professional for actual tax filing, you will connect directly to their secure platform—TaxApp does not serve as an intermediary for sensitive financial data or tax filing. You remain in control and can end the engagement at any time.

6. Professional Marketplace Data

TaxApp operates a Professional Marketplace where users can discover and connect with tax professionals. The following describes how data is handled within the Marketplace:

Professional Profiles

Tax professionals listed on the Marketplace create public profiles containing their name, credentials, specializations, states licensed, bio, hourly rates, office locations, languages, availability, and client reviews. This information is publicly visible to all TaxApp users searching the Marketplace. Professionals voluntarily provide this data and are responsible for its accuracy.

Connection Data

When you send a connection request to a professional, we share your name, email, phone number (if provided), and your request message with that professional. If the professional accepts, a Client–Professional Relationship record is created and visible to both parties. This record includes the relationship status, tax years covered, engagement type, and communication history.

Shared Tax Data

When connected, you may choose to share specific sections of your Tax Center data (income, expenses, deductions, withholdings, etc.) with your professional for a selected tax year. You control what is shared—data is only visible to the professional after you explicitly grant access. You can revoke access at any time, and the professional's ability to view your data will be immediately terminated. Sensitive identifiers (Social Security Numbers, bank account numbers) are never stored in or transmitted through TaxApp.

Messaging & Communications

Messages exchanged through TaxApp's secure messaging system between you and your connected professional are stored on our platform to provide a communication record. These messages may contain financial summaries and questions but must not contain Social Security Numbers, passwords, or other highly sensitive data. TaxApp may monitor message metadata for security and quality purposes but does not review message content unless required for dispute resolution or legal compliance.

Search Intelligence & Personalization

To improve marketplace matching, TaxApp maintains a Search Intelligence Profile that tracks your search activity, categories viewed, professionals favorited, and connections requested. This profile is used to personalize professional recommendations and match scores. You can view and manage this data in your Settings, and you may opt out of personalization at any time.

Ratings & Reviews

After completing an engagement, you may leave a rating and review for your professional. Your review will be publicly visible on the professional's Marketplace profile. Your name may be displayed alongside the review unless you choose to post anonymously (showing only your first name and last initial). Professionals may also rate clients, which helps other professionals assess engagement quality.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access and review your personal information
  • Correct or update inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and data (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • Opt-out of marketing communications
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Control which Tax Center sections are shared with connected professionals
  • Revoke a professional's access to your shared data at any time
  • Opt out of marketplace personalization and AI matching
  • Request removal of reviews you have posted

8. Data Retention

We do not store tax records. TaxApp only stores numerical data for informational and tracking purposes to help you understand your financial situation. You have full control over your data and can delete or manage it at any time through your Profile and Settings. We retain information only as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our informational services.

Marketplace Data Retention:

  • Connection records are retained for the duration of the professional relationship and for 3 years after termination for dispute resolution purposes.
  • Messaging history between clients and professionals is retained while the connection is active and for 1 year after termination.
  • Reviews and ratings remain on the professional's profile indefinitely unless removed by the reviewer or by TaxApp for policy violations.
  • Professional credentials and verification data are retained for the duration of the professional's Marketplace listing and for 3 years after removal.
  • Shared Tax Center data access is immediately revoked when you end a connection, though the professional may retain copies of any data they downloaded per IRS recordkeeping requirements.

9. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience, analyze usage patterns, and provide personalized features. You can control cookie settings through your browser, but some features may not function properly if cookies are disabled.

10. Children's Privacy

TaxApp is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child, we will delete it immediately.
